Golf
Panama City Beach is home to a huge variety of exceptional golf courses, each with its own character and challenges, and all located in spectacular settings. The mild winter temperatures are perfect for golfers, with daytime highs averaging 64 F.
Public golf courses include Hombre Golf Club, with its “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly” courses nestled amidst wetlands, marshes, lakes and preserves. The courses feature water on 21 of the 27 holes and are meticulously manicured to PGA specifications throughout the year. For the past twelve years, Hombre has also been host of the PGA Tour Qualifying School.
Signal Hill Golf Club is located close to North Lagoon on Thomas Drive, and was Panama City Beach’s first golf club. Designed on original powder-white dunes, this public course features wide-open, well-groomed fairways and offers a challenging game to all levels of expertise.
Semi-private golf clubs in Panama City Beach include the Marriott’s Bay Point Resort, featuring both the Nicklaus Course and The Meadows. The award-winning Nicklaus Course is the only Nicklaus Design golf course in Northwest Florida. It features lush fairways with generous plateaus and uncharacteristic elevation changes unique to the Florida Panhandle region. A few holes also offer stunning panoramic views of the Grand Lagoon and St. Andrews Bay. The Meadows provides a classic country club style and stretches for 6,913 yards. This Florida resort golf course has the length to test the best golfer’s distance and offers several tight fairways, along with numerous bunkers and lakes which provide an ever-changing set of challenges.
A few miles away on Panama City Beach Parkway, Holiday Golf Club is a semi-private, 18-hole par 72 Championship Course. Holiday Golf Club’s broad lake-lined fairways and elevated greens are protected by bunkers of powder-soft white sand, and this Panama City Beach golf course has been described in national golf publications as among one of Florida’s most enjoyable yet challenging tracks.
Another Panama City Beach golfing favorite is the Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in the exclusive Wild Heron community on Panama City Beach’s west end. Greg Norman-designed, The Shark’s Tooth Golf Club incorporates the 7,204-yard, 18-hole, golf course, a 10-acre practice facility, a 21,000 square foot club house and a pro shop. In 2007, Golf Digest ranked Shark’s Tooth as one of the best golf courses in Florida and one of the best private courses in the nation.
Expert or novice, Panama City Beach is undisputedly a year-round golfer’s paradise. All courses are convenient to Treasure Island Resort Condominium, and many offer discounts throughout the year, so be sure to check the official website for more information!
